Venevision Productions along with the Miami-Dade County Office of Film & Entertainment, hosted a delegation of Florida State Senators and Representatives, giving them a tour of their state-of-the-art production studios in Medley. The purpose was to emphasize the importance of state initiatives to promote the local production.“The support and initiatives we receive from the state and county are vital for our company’s operational growth and the expansion of our facilities. In the past, we have produced a number of our telenovelas abroad, in locations throughout Latin America and the Caribbean, but we have since made Miami our home thanks in great part to the positive attitude and cooperation of the local and state governments; simply put: they make us feel welcome,” emphasized Peter Tinoco, President & CEO of Venevision Productions.“Bringing the Legislators to Venevision Studios shows the importance of Florida’s production tax incentive program and the attraction telenovela productions have because of it. Venevision alone infuses approximately US$20 million into the local economy yearly with its telenovela productions. With Venevision’s 300 or more full time employees, their contribution locally to job creation is significant,” said Sandy Lighterman, Miami-Dade Film and Entertainment Commissioner, Department of Regulatory and Economic Resources. On average, Venevision Productions has three telenovelas in production a year, injecting millions of dollars into the local economy and state and county coffers. For example, during the span from pre-production to post-production of just one novela, Venevision Productions spends in excess of US$10 million, outsourcing approximately 90 local companies and services, from cleaning and catering to security and transportation, at a cost of some US$2 million, indirectly driving the Miami-Dade economy.
